CASTING RAINBOWS

In light of the first national lockdown in March 2020 I felt the need to do something for a charity in the midst of grief and turmoil worldwide. Scraggy Moo was sat enjoying the sunshine in her garden one day when she started messaging and phoning friends about a vision she had to create an online wellbeing festival for children, young people and adults to enjoy whilst we were all in isolation together. All our lives had changed. No matter who we were or where we were living we were living in a time of history. The idea for the festival was to cast a rainbow over the lives of people who may have been struggling, who may have been experiencing bereavement and who may have pressed the reset button in their own minds and hearts to reflect on what gives their lives meaning in the now moment and in the future. To spread joy and positivity whilst sharing the message on how to maintain having fun, living a healthy lifestyle and how art touches all our lives in lots of colourful ways.

From the food we eat, to the clothes we wear, the smoothies we drink, the art we paint, the music we play, the stories we write, how are bodies move, the way we spin a hula hoop, the way we capture a photo and how nature and wildlife has a positive impact on our holistic wellbeing. All these beautiful things are enjoyed in our own lives, they fuel our passion and reveal who we are. The festival had an aim to inspire children, adults and families to live in harmony, have fun, be creative and spark joy!

Sadly, some children just don't live long enough so together with my husband and over 30 people we helped to brighten their days by raising over our target figure of £700- £100 for every colour of the rainbow. Raising a grand total of £846.25. Woo hoo!!! The Rainbows Hospice for children and young people provides specialist respite, palliative and end of life care and our fundraising has helped to fund ingredients for cookery sessions, art and music therapy sessions, games sessions and physiotherapy.
